Value & Impact SIG - Terms of Reference






  • To share best practice, knowledge and experience, which will be achieved by
    • Face to face meetings to be held at least once per year -  each meeting or workshop will be chaired and hosted at a different member library 
    • The Northern Collaboration Value and Impact JISCMail group
  • To explore initiatives which would demonstrate the value and impact of Library services relating to institutional goals and sector wide rankings and assessments, and which enhance the experience of our customers
  • To act as an advisory group for Northern Collaboration projects as required by the NC Steering Group



The Chair will be from among the group members, and will serve for a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 3 years. Where appropriate, a vice chair may also be appointed (Current Chair is Lynne Leader, University of Salford).



Staff from academic libraries within the Northern Collaboration with responsibility for / interest in value and impact activities 


Reporting to Steering Group – the group will report to the Northern Collaboration Steering group in January, June and September each year, using the templates provided on Google Drive. 

Work plans for the following SIG year should be submitted in January. 


Lifetime of the group – on-going.


Frequency of meetings - to be held at least twice per year


Schedule of meetings - the group will meet in January each year to draft a work plan for submission to the NC steering group. 


Time commitment for SIG members – to be defined following discussion with SG partner (Liz Jolly, Teeside University).


Collaboration: links with external groups e.g. SCONUL, NoWAL, other NC groups e.g conference group and other SIGS.  


Dissemination of information: Reports to SG, Learning Exchanges, NC Conference, NC website etc.
