The conference will be held on Friday 6th September at the University of Hull

Context and Theme


There is growing evidence of the importance of working across professional boundaries to help libraries ensure a cohesive approach to service development and provision.


You will have the opportunity to hear about projects and collaborations around but not limited to the following topics. 


  • Working in a multi professional team
  • Professional cultures: similarities and differences
  • Not a librarian but working in a library – observations/experiences
  • Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders
  • Process mapping across team boundaries
  • Developing partnerships with institutions/organisations, eg. public bodies, publishers and suppliers
  • Developing skills and mindsets to thrive in this context


Sessions will be delivered through

  • Workshops
  • Short paper talks
  • Lightning talks

Awarded places


 The Northern Collaboration are offering twelve awarded placs for this year's conference. To be eligible for a place you must either:

  • work at one of the universities whose libraries are members of the Northern Collaboration


  • be studying - or preparing to study - for an information science, information management, or librarianship qualification



  • identify as BAME


  • be working in a library or studying/ preparing to study for an information science, information management, or librarianship qualification
