There is growing evidence of the importance of working across professional boundaries to help libraries ensure a cohesive approach to service development and provision.

Whether you work in or with a library we would like to hear about your projects and collaborations. Topics could include, but are not limited to:

  • Working in a multi professional team
  • Professional cultures: similarities and differences
  • Not a librarian but working in a library – observations/experiences
  • Influencing and negotiating with stakeholders
  • Process mapping across team boundaries
  • Developing partnerships with institutions/organisations, eg. public bodies, publishers and suppliers
  • Developing skills and mindsets to thrive in this context

We invite you to submit a proposal for the 2019 Northern Collaboration conference, to be held on Friday 6th September at the University of Hull

Who can submit a proposal?

We welcome papers from all colleagues working within Northern Collaboration member institutions and particularly encourage submissions from those looking to present for the first time.

Experienced presenters are also welcome to submit a proposal.

Submissions are invited from:

  • Individuals
  • Collaborative contributions from within:
  • one institution
  • across NC institutions or
  • between an institution and a collaborative partner working outside of the institution

(maximum 2 presenters per submission)

Papers can be focused on, but not limited to, the seven topics, listed above.

We also welcome submissions that may fall outside of these themes but will still be of relevance and interest to our delegates.

To have a truly engaging conference, we believe we need presenters who bring a variety of perspectives and backgrounds and therefore we particularly encourage and welcome submissions from members of the BAME community, who are under-represented in our sector.

How to submit a proposal

We are accepting three different types of proposal, as follows:

  • Short paper - 20 minute presentation including 5 minutes for questions

  • Workshop - 45 minute workshop with interactive elements

  • Lightning talk - 10 minutes

We would particularly like to see proposals which include innovative methods of presentation that aim to engage and interact with the audience.

Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a panel, and submission outcomes will be notified by the end of May.
